Mikhailyuk ABSTRACT In some aerophytic biotopes (limestone, barks of trees, dry wood) of the "Evolution Canyon II", Lower Nahal Keziv, and "Evolution Canyon I", Lower Nahal Oren, Mount Cannel National Park, Israel 20 species of eukaryotic algae were revealed using the cultural method. They belong to Chlorophyta (14 species), Xanthophyta (2), Eustigmatophyta (2), and Bacillariophyta (2). Eight genera and 13 species are first recorded in Israel. Their descriptions, localities, details of morphology, ecology and distribution, and illustrations are given. The aerophytic algal flora of Israel is discussed in comparison with floras of some territories of the temperate zone of Ukraine. The peculiarity of the Israeli algal flora is caused by climatic features of the country, and differences in ecological characteristics of eukaryotic and prokaryotic algae.
