ABSTRACT
Changes in the composition and content of phycobiliproteins at the level of species and strain were studied under the effect of diuron. Blue-green algae Nostoc punctiforme (Kutz.) Hariot, strains 48 and 55, and Nostoc muscorum Ag., strain 543, were the objects for our investigation. Representatives of the genus Nostoc were shown to possess a specific response to changes in the carbon nutrition type. It has been established that in objects with the highest capacity for photoheterotrophy (by productivity) the content of phycobiliproteins under test conditions essentially increased, while in objects with a lesser suitability to such a type of nutrition the pigment accumulation proceeded less intensely. Physiological adaptation of the pigment apparatus in algae is confirmed by a compensatory increase in photosystem II (PS II) activity, intensification of the phycobilin pigments testifying to this fact.
