Prorocentrum ponticus Krachmalny & Terenko sp. nov. is described. This new species of Dinophyta was discovered in plankton of Odessa Bay of the Black Sea in March 1999. The species was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. Photomicrographs and the Latin diagnosis are presented in the article.
