Genkal ABSTRACT The Lake Naroch ecosystem (Lakes Naroch, Myastro, and Batorino) have passed through different evolutionary periods of their trophic state: 1) the period with insignificant antropogenic press, 2) the period of antropogenic eutrophication, and 3) the period of de-eutrophication, which was accompanied by structural changes and an instable state of phytoplankton communities. During de-eutrophication, the invasion of the centric diatom Cyclotella comensis Grun. in the lakes was revealed; recently, it was recorded in Belarus only as a fossil. Data on seasonal dynamics and inter-year fluctuations of species number for 12 years of observation (1992−2003) are given. An electron microscopy study of morphological variability of C. comensis from Lake Batorino is presented.
