Nekhoroshev ABSTRACT It was demonstrated that cultivation conditions (including the period of intensive cultivation) strongly affect accumulation of R-phycoerythrin in thalli of the Black Sea alga Gracilaria verrucosa (Huds.) Papenf. f. procerima Esp. Application of the technological approach of "resting cultures" allows to optimize the cultural medium for intensive cultivation conditions, and to obtain maximal quantities of red pigment from the cultivated biomass of Gracilaria. Traditional technologies cannot produce such results.
