    ABSTRACT

    The thermofluidic behaviour of thin liquid films on microstructured surfaces has been a focus of numerous studies over the last years. These studies have been motivated by the advantages of such surface structures: the improvement of the film distribution homogeneity over the wall and the intensification of the heat transfer and evaporation. In the present paper the flow of a thin liquid film on a microstructured surface under the influence of the gravity, the thermocapillarity and the phase change has been investigated in the framework of the long-wave theory. First, the liquid-gas interface shape and the film stability under the simultaneous action of gravity and thermocapillarity (without phase change) have been studied. Then, the evolution of an evaporating liquid film on a microstructured surface has been simulated. It has been found that the film deformation dynamics is governed by thermocapillarity or by mass loss during different stages of the evaporation process.
