ABSTRACT

Calculations of flow and heat transfer, induced by natural convection in vertical tall cavities, are performed via a one-dimensional model. Some hypotheses makes the Navier-Stokes equations easy to solve, then it is more useful to have some information about the flow and the heat transfer. In tall cavities, the overall heat transfer and the flow are dominated by the phenomena in the central region far from the horizontal walls. Comparison with the two-dimensional values gives a good agreement.
