ABSTRACT

Recent studies of boiling heat transfer and two-phase flow in porous media have been critically reviewed in this chapter. The review is limited to boiling heat transfer on bodies submerged in liquid-saturated porous media and dryout heat flux in volumetrically heated and bottom-heated porous layers. The role of system variables, such as consolidated vs. unconsolidated media, liquid subcooling, system pressure, and forced flow, has been discussed. The review also includes multidimensional flows in porous media.
