Abstract

A review and prospect of development for waste heat recovery systems in ships are presented in this paper. Water is chosen for working substance at the research in waste heat recovery systems for diesel ships. The uncomplicated equations of the water and steam thermodynamic properties to meet the needs of engineering accuracy within the specific limits are gotten. With the aid of optimization method and exergy analysis and thermoeconomic method, this paper studies the international advanced waste heat recovery systems that make use of the double exhaust gas boiler and the mixing double turbine. The three advanced waste heat recovery systems make the calculation of optimization with thermoeconomic method. The results of optimization of the three advanced waste heat recovery systems are also analyzed and compared. System-3 is the best in the three waste heat recovery systems for marine ships.
