PATTERN TRACKING USING GRAY LEVEL DIFFERENCES AND ITS APPLICATION TO LOW VELOCITY AIRFLOW MEASUREMENT

Abstract

A new fast algorithm for the pattern tracking velocimetry using gray level differences as an Index of similarity is proposed. It is superior to the spatial correlation method in tracking performance and saves computation time one order or more. A method to calculate time-averaged velocity field applying the proposed algorithm to fluctuating flow field and some examples of its application to low velocity airflow measurement are presented.
