Abstract

CaC03 crystallization fouling experiments were carried out in a simulated cooling water system on the copper surface and the copper modified low energy surface−SAM (self-assembled monolayer) surface. The results suggest that the fouling process is enhanced in the presence of desorbed air bubbles on the modified surface. Fractal theory is used to analyze the fouling geometric texture. The results demonstrate that the fractal dimension value D of CaC03 fouling on the SAM surface is higher than that on the copper surface.
