Abstract

For experimental examination of the spreading of a plasma jet, based on an DC plasma torch with an swirl stabilised arc, on the entry of the mixing chamber the local speeds were measured using an LDA. The measured velocity profile can be taken as laminar. The influence ofthe plasma gas input on this profile can be neglected. The velocity measurements taken at different distances to the anode nozzle demonstrated, that the mass flux of the gas jet has been doubled within a few millimetres by means of con - journeys ofthe surrounding gas. Based on this measurements conclusion for the design for mixing chambers can be made.
