Aims and Scope
Major advances in process industry heat exchangers will result in increased use of all types of compact heat exchangers in a variety of applications. In order to broaden and speed up the use of CHEs as process equipment, an international conference on Compact Heat Exchangers for the Process Industries was organized with the sponsorship of Engineering Foundation and held at Snowbird, Utah during June 22-27, 1997. The objectives of the Conference were to identify existing forms of the CHEs with their potential use and benefits, to identify the new forms of the CHEs, and to identify and discuss barriers and critical issues preventing the broader use of CHEs for the process industry applications.
This book includes most of the papers presented at this Conference. A total of 55 papers from 12 countries are included in the book. The book has a section on invited papers and ten sections of technical topics as follows:
Plate-Fin Heat Exchangers
Tube-Fin Heat Exchangers
Plate Heat Exchangers
Other Heat Exchangers
Heat Transfer Enhancement
Theory and Design Data
Experimental Techniques and Uncertainties
This specialized collection of papers represents a focused attention to the use of CHEs in the process industries. It also indicates that there are enormous opportunities of CHEs in the process industries.
