A Parametric Study on the Utilization of Gas Dissolution Effect in Steady Sprays

Abstrakt

This paper describes a parametric development of the previous studies. As the parameters, installation of an expansion chamber, the kind of fuel and the type of nozzles were taken to be examined. To estimate the atomization, a narrow angle forward scattering type was used. The expansion chamber has a remarkable effect to enhance the effect of CO2 dissolution to promote the atomization, which indicates the residence time of gas dissolved fuel flow to be an important factor in determining the effect of gas dissolution. In a swirl nozzle, when a diesel fuel is used, the gas dissolution has little effect or the effect of suppressing the atomization. However, when a kerosene is used, the gas dissolution can produce a remarkable effect of promoting the atomization. This shows the importance of the kind of fuel in determining the effect of gas dissolution. The change of spray structure due to the promoted atomization by gas dissolution is also shown.
