Fuel Flow Characteristics and Cavitation Phenomena in Nozzle of Diesel Spray by Planer Acrylic Model

Abstrakt

This paper presents the experimental analysis on the fuel flow states inside the transparent model nozzle. The cross sectional configuration of an actual hole-type Diesel nozzle (dn = 0.20 mm, ln/dn = 3.75) was similarly magnified in length scale of the factor 2 (dm = 0.40 mm) and 10 (dm = 2.0 mm). The both model nozzles are 5 mm in thickness and put between flat plates. The fuel flow states were observed by a high-speed framing video camera. Also cavitation phenomenon were obtained by an instantaneous video photography with the back diffusion light illumination method. The discharge coefficient and the spray cone angle were measured in variation of injection pressures up to 2 MPa. The correlation of the results was discussed with the cavitation number K', which is defined as K' = pa/Δp.This paper presents the experimental analysis on the fuel flow states inside the transparent model nozzle.
