Abstrakt
In this study heat transfer and pressure drop of the lube oil with turbulators were experimentally investigated. The turbulators studied are of a specially punched tape which is very easy to make. The heat transfer performance obtained has been very encouraging since the beginning of these tests, even better than the usual coil spring type. Since pumping power is not a dominating factor in common oil cooling applications, a higher pressure drop could be afforded in all these applications. Consequently, turbulators of the punched-tape type are favorably chosen for a great deal of tests. Presented here are the experimental apparatus design, test run results, correlations and charts for practical design of lube oil coolers.
