Abstrakt

This paper describes a methodology for identification of opportunities for enabling integration of the design process within Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs), supported by electronic data interchange. The work is based on case studies carried out in a number of SMEs. Analysis of the potential for electronic integration is used as the basis for specifying the architecture of a demonstrator for managing product data. The demonstrator is based on the adoption of robust electronic data management technologies which are affordable and capable of being handled by a typical SME.
