HEAT REMOVAL AUGMENTATION IN STEAM GENERATING CHANNELS WITH SWIRLED FLOWS

Abstrakt

Some results of investigations of heat transfer crisis in channels with swirled flow are represented in this abstract. It is shown that implementation of swirled flow in steam generating units (SG) in which the convex heat transfer surfaces are presented leads to critical heat flux (CHF) decreasing and resulting to degradation of reliability and SGs power rating. Combined implementation of flow swirl and transit flow moving along the convex heat transfer surface gets an opportunity to eliminate this lack and increase the heat removal and CHF on concave and convex heat transfer surfaces of SG.
The paper represents some investigation results of heat exchange and heat exchange crisis in SGs with swirled and transit flows. The estimation of SG efficiency with swirled and transit flows is also given here. It is shown that on the basis of fuel elements using swirled and transit flows the SGs in which the volumetric power Wv is much more higher than the volumetric power of cores based on thermal neutrons and comparable or higher for Wv of cores based on fast neutrons could be build.
