The paper deals with the evaluation of the measurements on the experimental arc heater (plasmatron) designed for toxic ecologically harmful substances destruction. Its modular
structure enables to change flexibly its configuration and operational conditions and to investigate their influence on main arc heater characteristics (arc voltage, efficiency) for various flow rates and for various working gases. Special interest was concentrated on the study of the influence of concentration of nitrogen in Ar + N2 mixture on plasmatron characteristics and energy loss distribution along the plasmatron.
