Abstrakt
Railway frogs are manufactured using expensive manganese steel (Hadfield steel). Their resource is determined by intensive local wear. The paper deals with the investigation of the composition, the structure, mechanical properties and the destructibility of the Mn-Cr-Ni layer over Hadfield steel made using the plasma spray technique. The coating was performed in several layers with intermediate abrasive cleaning and mechanical hardening of each layer. The hardness and the strength of coating layer are found to be 2 times greater compared with the bulk metal and the plasticity is less according to expectation. Strength of traction between the layer and substrate is a little less than strength of bulk metal due to boundary defects.
