Abstrakt

A new method for unsteady simultaneous measurements of weights, temperatures, and surface area of an evaporating pendant drop in dry air was proposed. Unsteady simultaneous measurements of weights, temperatures, and surface areas of a water drop containing fine alumina particles were made for various initial alumina concentrations CA0=l0-71%, initial concentrations of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) CPVA0=0-10%, free stream temperatures T=313-363K, free stream velocities U=0.53-1.09m/s and Reynolds numbers Rep=40-150. The vapor phase diffusion fluxes and Nusselt numbers of the liquid drop were compared with those of a pure liquid drop. The effects of the initial concentration of polyvinyl alcohol on the diffusion fluxes and Nusselt number of the drop containing alumina particles were also discussed.
