Abstrakt

The purpose of the project was to demonstrate how computer-aided design and visualisation can be used to improve the process of modifying vehicle bodies to suit particular customer requirements. The vehicle bodies are currently modified by trial and error, but this can be time consuming and costly if irreversible damage is caused. The advantages of using computer-aided design allow a 'virtual' vehicle to be modified many times over with little or no costs incurred, as well as being able to engineer the modifications to the exact safety requirements without over-engineering the product and incurring more costs.
