Flow boiling heat transfer for water in a single glass tube with small diameters (1mm, 1.6mm, 2mm, 4mm) has been visualised experimentally using a high-speed video camera. The experiments were done at atmospheric pressure with heat flux from 6.3kW/m2 to 40 kW/ m2, mass flow rate from 52 kg/ m2s to 518 kg/ m2s, inlet temperature from 20 °C to 97 °C and different flow directions (upward, downward and horizontal). The bubble shape and flow pattern for boiling were investigated.
