Abstrakt
Glass processing, i.e. tempering, bending, and laminating, is done by heating and cooling the glass. Different types of heat transfer phenomena are coupled together in a lime-dependent process. In the paper, the principles of different processes are shown and the most important theoretical aspects are discussed. The main goal has been to show the connection between conduction, convection, and radiation in a semitransparent medium. The usefulness of numerical modeling in process control and machinery design is pointed out and some trends in the field are discussed on the basis of authors' experience in research.
