Hybrid Methods in Engineering

ISSN Druckformat: 1099-2391

ISSN Online: 2641-7359

Ziele und Zweck

Hybrid Methods in Engineering is a journal that publishes full-length refereed contributions describing significant developments in hybrid numerical-analytical methods, and their application to the solution of practical engineering problems. The main purpose of the journal is to offer a specialized forum for developments in novel hybrid methods for engineering problems. Such approaches have experienced a revival over the last few years, connected with the need for increasingly robust and economical computational tools, that implement reliable error control schemes. The also recent development of mixed symbolic-numerical computations in engineering applications has opened up a new future for hybrid methods. Contributions from researchers in these new and challenging fields are encouraged. Articles published in this journal will fall into five main categories. The first will contain those contributions that describe new developments in hybrid numerical-analytical methods that have a practical application. The second category will concentrate specifically on the use and extension of mixed symbolic-numerical computational tools and software, including graphics and animation, in engineering problems. The third will contain contributions relating to the establishment of benchmark results obtained through hybrid methods, for reference purposes. These will provide a widely available source of reference material for practitioners from many engineering disciplines. The fourth category will be related to the covalidation of hybrid and numerical and/or experimental results. Finally, the fifth category includes articles that bring novel interpretations to the physical knowledge on a certain engineering discipline, allowed for by the use of hybrid methods and/or mixed computation algorithms. Examples that serve to illustrate and verify the proposed methodologies are strongly encouraged, as are descriptions of relevant engineering applications. Publication of computer programs will be considered if they show a considerable advance, are coded in a widely used programming language, and are of reasonable length and presented clearly. Articles prepared in notebook format are also acceptable and encouraged.
