DISPERSION OF DROPLETS IN A SWIRLING PRESSURE ATOMIZED SPRAY FLAME

Abstract

The behavior of individual droplets in a kerosene pressure-atomized spray flame was investigated under swirling and burning conditions in order to gain a better understanding of individual droplet transport processes downstream of the fuel spray under combustion conditions. A two-component phase Doppler particle sizing system was employed to provide information on the droplet size and velocity distributions as well as arrival time statistics. Time-resolved information is presented on the instantaneous values of diameter, and the axial and radial velocity components of the droplets.
