Abstract

The injection phenomena of diesel spray is transient and particle velocities higher than 100m/s. To study the spray structure, a pseudo high speed image photographic system(PHSI) was developed, which consisted of a CCD camera, a frame memory, a CPU and a high speed flash light source. To analyze the spray structure and its time-dependent characteristics, conventional hole and throttle type nozzle for diesel engine were used.
This paper present the concept of PHSI system which is more economical compared to the conventional high speed camera systems. Some measurement result of diesel injection spray structure and the result of Computer Tomography with digitized image data are presented.
