Abstract

In order to meet the needs of small IDI diesel engines developing towards small size, high speed and performance as well as low emission, a mini P-size pintle nozzle and its low inertia injector have been developed. This paper introduces the analysis results on fuel spray penetration characteristics, the spread of fuel spray impinging on different walls and the droplets distribution of fuel spray as well as Sauter Mean Diameter D32 by using holographic technique for P-size pintle nozzle and its low inertia injector. Meanwhile, its fuel injection characteristics and the performance matched with related diesel engine are also discussed. The tests show that the mini P-size pintle nozzle and its low inertia injector has a stronger fuel spray penetration ability and a good atomization characteristics, because of which the engine performance are improved obviously.
