IMAGING OF GAS TRANSFER ACROSS GAS-LIQUID INTERFACES

Abstract

Mass transfer across gas-liquid interfaces are of importance in both the natural and technical environment. The exchange of gases between the atmosphere and the oceans determines the global distribution of many chemical species. Reaeration of lakes and rivers across the water surface is a critical process for the ecology of these environments, especially if they show high biological activity. Mass transfer across gas-liquid interfaces is of importance in gas-liquid reactors of various kinds such as bubble and falling films columns.
