Abstract

This paper introduces methods for incorporating the effect of initial and boundary conditions into the Monte Carlo simulation of diffusion problems. Conservation laws are taken into account in the initial generation of Monte Carlo particles. The concept of symmetrical/anti-symmetrical distribution of particles around a boundary is utilized to simulate the effect of zero-gradient/zero-quantity boundary conditions, respectively. Boundary effect equations are derived to deal with more complex boundary conditions.
