Abstract

The purpose of this study is to achieve data and applications integration between an MRP II system and shop floor data collection systems to support the manufacturing planning and control process. This requires the linking of various operating systems and application interactions for batch/continuous data acquisition. In particular, data communication is addressed between a network of bar codes, artificial vision inspection systems and a commercial MRP II software to provide a quick shop floor feedback. The physical connection between these systems is provided by installing а ТСР/IР communication protocol using the РС/ТСР program. Shop floor data are stored in ASCII formatted files and transmitted to the MRP II system on a real time basis, so that instantaneous information on resources and operations is made available to ensure continuous and effective production monitoring in real-life applications.
