Abstract

The purpose of this study is twofold. First, to shed some light on energy pricing policies in the GCC countries and to estimate the hidden subsidy or tax by comparing these prices with their international counterparts. Second, to discuss the potential benefits and costs of formal gasoline taxes in these countries.
