PRELIMINARY GAS TURBINE GENERATION SET THERMODYNAMIC ANALYSIS CONSIDERING ECONOMIC PROFIT

Abstract

Conventionally, the thermal efficiency is chosen to be the criterion to evaluate the performance of various power plants. However, the actual economic profit may be more practically important in real engineering practice. Based on the general semi-empirical equations derived by the authors to calculate specific prices of gas turbine generation sets, a fundamental economic and thermal analysis is given to determine the optimum efficiency and pressure ratio for the favourable economic profit. Some novel and valuable conclusions are derived and comparison is made with viewpoints of the conventional thermal cycle analysis.
