THE PRODUCTION OF OVER 2000 INJECTION MOULD IMPRESSIONS OF AN SL MASTER USING COPPER ELECTROFORMED INSERTS

Abstract

A polyurethane model derived from a stereolithographic master was used as a mandrel for copper electroforming. The electroform then acted as inserts for an injection moulding tool. Over 2000 impressions of glass filled polypropylene were made and measurements of their dimensional accuracy are given. A second set of electroformed copper inserts were made directly from a stereolithographic mandrel.
