Abstract

A development of ultra-high speed computer forces us to change the research subject and method of heat transfer, since almost all the heat transfer performances can be numerically solved, even for a complex fluid and a conjugate thermal conditions. Under these conditions, new trends of heat transfer research in Japan are a micro-scale heat transfer and a development of the heat transfer technology to the new industrial fields. The micro-scale heat transfer does not only mean the heat transfer in the small scale region, but also the heat transfer in a highly non-equilibrium, heterogeneous or non-isotropic condition. In this paper, the current status of the heat transfer research in the micro-scale heat transfer, and an novel measurement method and phenomena in the heat and mass transfer applying to the high technology are introduced.
