ANALYTIC SOLUTION OF CREEPING FLOW IN A CLOSED SECTOR CAVITY WITH MOVING WALL

Abstract

The two-dimensional flow of slow motion in a closed sector cavity with moving wall is solved analytically. Using appropriate transformation, the governing biharmonic equation is reduced to a forth order ordinary differential equation with variable coefficients which can be solved by well known techniques. The results of flow pattern show a primary vortex, and boundary layer behaviour along one wall and a sluggish stagnant region in the corner facing the moving wall.
