ON THE EXAMINATION OF BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW AROUND A SPHERE

Abstract

In this paper, the boundary layer equations for axially symmetric bodies have been arranged for sphere and the resulting set of differential equations have been solved by means of Runge-Kutta method. The results of the term fi (η) and its derivatives, the location of boundary layer separation have been compared to the results obtained from the literature. Some of the functional coefficients of the Blasius series and coefficients in the velocity distribution equation for the calculation of the boundary layer on a body of revolution are found to be different from the literature.
