Abstract

New equations of saturation pressure and temperature for water were correlated for industrial use based on the International Skeleton Tables(1985), IST-85. The precise equation of saturation pressure, Eq.(1), agrees with most vapor pressure data of IST-85 within 0.002 %. Computing time of this equation by a personal computer is about 1.5 times faster than that of the IFC Formulation for Industrial Use(1967), IFC-67. The fast equation for saturation pressure, Eq.(2), agrees with vapor pressure data of IST-85 within 0.02 % and within each tolerance of IST-85. The computing time of this fast equation is about 2.5 times faster than that of IFC-67. The quadratic equation, Eq.(3), was also fitted as a function of saturation pressure and temperature within each tolerance of IST-85, and its computing time is about 1.7 times faster than that of IFC-67 with respect to vapor pressure calculations. The equation of saturation temperature, Eq.(4), was also fitted within each tolerance of IST-85.
