Abstract
Simultaneous evaporation and coalescence of fuel droplets of a multisize spray suspended in one of the streams in a shear-layer flow are analyzed. Similarity and asymptotic solutions of the spray governing equations are discussed. New results are presented here for the effects of droplet coalescence on vapor production across the shear-layer, on the lateral distributions of droplet Sauter Mean Diameter, and on the evolution in droplet size histograms. The present results indicate that for relatively high coalescence rates, the lateral distribution of the droplet Sauter Mean Diameter across the shear-layer assumes an "S" shaped curve.
