Abstract
Plasma transferred arc is a flexible and adaptive process for cutting metals of various chemical compositions and large dimensions. Surfaces of metallic materials plasma cut with or without oxygen as plasma forming gas exhibit however some defects, involving drosses, bevels and striations. An experimental study was conducted in order to evaluate qualitatively the effects of the operating parameters on the cut quality and to highlight possible mechanisms responsible for striatum.
