VELOCITY OF PLASMA AND PARTICLES IN OXYGEN-HYDROGEN THERMAL PLASMA JET

Abstract
Velocity of particles injected into thermal plasma jet were
measured using two fast shutter CCD cameras with multiple exposure. Two perpendicular views of the jet were recorded simultaneously and thus exact position and trajectories of individual particles were determined. Velocity of
plasma and values of material· coefficients were evaluated from the measured changes of particle velocity along their trajectories using equation for momentum transfer between plasma and particles. Temperature of plasma at a given point was then determined using calculated LTE values of material coefficients. Radial profiles of plasma temperature and velocity were determined by this method for various axial positions along the jet and various arc currents.
