Abstract
Technology transfer, including that of energy related technology, is especially difficult when the technology is used in a place far distant from where it was designed. A particular difficulty is that most mechanisms for technology transfer favor particular kinds of technology - usually commercial technology or the technology in common use in the exporting region. Managers must keep these difficulties in mind and, more important, take actions to overcome the problems created by the distance and the bias.
