Abstract
Most battery powered portable electronic equipment operate between the voltage range of 3V to 9V and require only several hundred milliamperes of current. A typical small portable solar panel produces about 0.9V voltage at about 3A current. Although the current is usually more than sufficient to power portable electronic equipment, the voltage is too low. This paper describes the design and operation of a DC to DC converter circuit which enables a portable electronic equipment to be powered from a small solar panel.
