Sinopsis
Experiments are conducted with annular orifices to determine the role of the geometrical parameters of the orifice on the formation and disintegration characteristics of annular liquid sheets and the discharge coefficient. Injection pressure drops upto 1.2MPa which are of interest in liquid propellant rocket injectors are considered. It is shown necessary to have annular gaps of the orifice about an order of magnitude greater than the thickness of the liquid film in the annulus so that a conical spray with uniform disintegration characteristics are achieved.
