Sinopsis

It is important to investigate the behavior of adhered fuel film on a wall for developing a small size DI diesel engine or a direct injected gasoline engine. So the behavior of the fuel film and evaporating process are studied experimentally. Some characteristics of the impinging spray and adhered fuel film were measured by means of laser back illumination method, laser reflection method and others. The results show that (1) the spreading area of adhered fuel film is about half of that of spray which exists above the impingement wall, (2) adhered fuel ratio to injected quantity was above 50%, (3) thickness of adhered fuel film is estimated from 10 to 50µm, (4) the area of fuel film on the wall is extremely influenced by the wall temperature.
