On the Atomization Characteristics of Twin Fluid Nozzles for Cold Fog Machine (I)

Sinopsis

The atomization characteristics of 5 kinds of twin-fluid nozzles equipped in the cold fog machine were examined in this paper. In order to obtain some useful data for designing and manufacturing an improved twin-fluid nozzle, the conditions, under which the sprayed droplets ejected from the nozzles are appropriate and even in size, were analyzed. The effects, that the relative velocity of air and fluid flow, the flow rate, the type of air hole and the type of liquid hole have upon the size of sprayed droplets and the droplet distribution when the fluid is atomized by the jet air from the nozzle, were examined analyzed. To estimate the mean droplet size, the frequently-used Nukiyama and Tanasawa equation and the newly-developed equation introduced in the previous paper were examined through the regression analysis for their precision. The fluid flow rate at this time was different according to the structure of the nozzle. In estimating the mean droplet size, equation suggested in this study was more accurate than Nukiyama and Tanasawa equation.
