Sinopsis

Currently, the most important techniques for the growth of bulk crystals use growth from the melt by defined control of the liquid-solid phase transition (Czochralski method). Presented work is related to the experimental simulation of mixed convection in the process of single-crystal growth by Czochralski method. This paper presents the visualization of the temperature and velocity fields. The visualizations were done by dispersed encapsulated liquid crystals, which enable the velocity and temperature measurements. The experimental conditions depended on the non-dimensional parameters like Prandtl number, Reynolds number and Grashof number.
