Sinopsis
In this report simple empirical expressions have been obtained for the mean electric field and voltage in an arc moving between coaxial electrodes in air. Computations provide such expressions in terms of the geometric dimensions of the gap, arc current, magnetic field, azimuthal arc velocity and axial gas velocity for a large range of parameters. The obtained expressions show good agreement with experimental data.
