Sinopsis

A model of entrainment based on j et momentum flux that provides useful results at moderate values of GLR is presented An entrainment number of approximately 0.15, obtained for air and a 0.040 Pa-s hydrocarbon oil, provides a good estimate of entrainment by an effervescent spray as a function of axial distance, liquid mass flow rate, liquid, atomizing gas and entrained air densities, and nozzle gas-to-liquid ratio when using Ishii's slip ratio correlation. The results also indicate that substantial inaccuracies arise when attempting to extend Ishii's expression to fluids with viscosities of 0.100 Pa-s, thus illustrating that a correct value of slip ratio is necessary if accurate predictions are to be obtained.
