In the field of manufacturing LAN, the current interest concerns their management. However, the network management possibilities are still very limited in the factory communication domain in comparison with other networks such as those linking workstations. A lot of management functions are common to all the networks, but it exists some functions which depend on specific application context. That is why it is necessary to take into account of users' requirements in the field of manufacturing LAN management.
We propose an object-oriented methodology which allows easier passage from specific requirements to an adapted network management solution. This methodology allows to identify and represent managed objects in respect with OSI (Open System Interconnection) formalism.
